To clean, make sure that you remove all coal from the braai. Use a brush and soapy water to clean the inside of the braai and a braai and grill cleaner to clean the grids. You can also brush and then wash grids in warm soapy water. 

Prevent rust

Once the braai is clean, make sure that the entire braai is dry. If any part of the braai is still damp, you run the risk of rust. You may not notice rust at first. Over time, it will build up, causing wear and tear and making it harder to use the braai. Always make sure that parts are dried – using a dry cloth and letting it air dry as well.

Store safely

Braais and their parts should always be stored somewhere safe and dry. Leaving your braai out in the open on your patio or balcony is the quickest way to get rust and other damage. Always make sure that you have somewhere covered to store your braai when it’s not in use. This could be a garage, a spare room or even a fully covered area of your patio.
