Ingredients:
- 4 Pizza bases
- 1 large Onion, peeled and chopped
- 250g Mushroom, chopped
- 1 Green pepper, chopped
- 200g Diced bacon
- Cheese, grated
- 1 tbsp. Mild curry powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp. mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp. tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp. chutney
Directions:
- Light a fire until you reach medium heat. While the braai wood is burning, you can prepare your pizza sandwich toppings.
- In a Cast Iron Skillet, fry garlic and onion over medium heat. After 2 minutes, add your bacon bits and fry until crispy. Stir in your mushrooms and green pepper and leave to cook for +-5 minutes. Add the curry powder, salt and pepper to the mushroom mixture. Reduce the heat to low.
- In a small bowl, prepare the sauce by mixing the mayonnaise, tomato sauce and chutney together. Add the sauce mixture to the skillet and remove from heat immediately. Set aside.
- Place your Big Box Grid on a flat surface. Place the two pizza bases in your grid, ensuring the pizza bases faces upward. Add the fillings on top of both bases, sprinkle cheese and top it off with the remaining pizza bases.
- Close the grid tightly and braai for 5 minutes on each side, turning them regularly.
Tip: Use the similar method as you would braaing your braai broodjie- on slow and low heat.
- Once the cheese is melted and the pizza bases are toasted, you can remove the grid from the braai.
- Slide the finished pizza braai sandwich on your wooden board, slice into equal parts and enjoy!
